That very same year she was offered a job as an entry-level chef at the restaurant An American Place for one year. Guarnaschelli got her first taste of food experiences while watching recipes that she'd been editing in the cookbooks of her mother being test at the home. She began her career under Larry Forgione before working in various Los Angeles, New York and France-based restaurants. Guarnaschelli eventually became the head chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli was a competitor against Cat Cora on Food Network's Iron Chef America 2007 Farmers Market Battle. In 2011, she was a contestant as the season's third runner in The Next Iron Chef, and she has served as an Iron Chef judge since. In addition, she competed with The Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode, but lost the event.
